Coincidence or Fate?
Lately, I’ve really been missing my blog. It hasn’t been the blog writing as much as the creativity and technical aspects of it; such as finding the right photos, fonts and colors to use, using WordPress, following SEO guidelines, etc. Geeky stuff like that.
So I decided to log in today. At first, I couldn’t even log in to see the darn blog. Critical errors seem to occur when you don’t upgrade your software consistently. Hmm, is that a metaphor for life? I don’t usually get this deep but it sure seems like it fits! Upgrade yourselves regularly to avoid critical errors, folks!
Technically speaking, I really just needed to upgrade my software and plugins.
After finally logging in, I noticed that the fonts look smaller and lighter. Is it because I’m almost 50 and my eyesight has been the first to let me know? Perhaps. But I still plan to tackle my fonts later this week. No matter how brief, I absolutely had to post today, August 15, 2022, because, after logging in, I noticed my last post August 15, 2021. Exactly one year ago today! Isn’t that weird?
So, what's been happening with the Laceys in the past year?
- We’ve been in Colorado for seven years, which is the longest we’ve lived anywhere (outside of our childhood homes)
- One of us is starting his second year of college
- One is a senior in high school
- We’ve all taken up snowboarding and/or skiing
- We think we’ve each had Covid twice
- There is one less appendix in the house
- Dennis is still working from home (and we’re still married and alive)
- I’m still teaching English to Chinese kids, but way less than before
- And I’ve added substitute teaching to my handful of side gigs
- Oh, and I’ve decided to publish a family cookbook
- And I’ve added substitute teaching to my handful of side gigs
- Dennis still has his quarantine beard, which we’ve all grown accustomed to
- I’ve grown out my gray hair (something only an extremely vain person would point out. Guilty!)
Maybe there’s been more, but mostly it’s been Groundhog Day here. At any rate, I’m glad I logged in, wrote some stuff, and remembered why I started this blog. Now, to fix those tiny fonts…

Wonderful hear about the Laceys again.
Thanks, Squish! We certainly don’t have a lot going on, but when I logged in and saw the last time I posted was exactly one year ago, I knew I had to post something!
Hey, nice to see another post after all this time! I’m way behind on mine too… and there are worse things than a Groundhog Day life. 🙂
Very true! Hopefully you won’t have anything too complicated to fix with your blog. There are still a few things I need to fix but it’s all part of the fun, right? 😉
